JAKARTA - Two of the hundreds of Indonesian citizens (WNI) have been named suspects in the international scamming syndicate case that was revealed in the Philippines. They are said to have played a role as leaders and recruiters.

"2 Indonesian citizens who have been proven by the examination of the Philippine National Police (PNP) as the leader and recruiter of the Trafficking In Person network," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Sandi Nugroho in his statement, Monday, May 8.

The involvement of hundreds of other Indonesian citizens to date will be investigated. Therefore, a team of examiners and repatriation was sent to fly to the Philippines to explore it.

The inspection and repatriation team is scheduled to depart on Tuesday, May 9. Upon arrival, the Manila police will accompany them while handling the case.

"The inspection and repatriation team will depart to deal with problematic Indonesian citizens in Pampangga, Philippines," he said.

The step that the team will take is to coordinate with the PN Pterkait plan to investigate and bring the suspect who is an Indonesian citizen.

"Then make a visit to Pampangga, the location of the safe houses of Indonesian citizens who were secured by the PNP Cyber Unit to conduct interviews and inspections," he said.

"Furthermore, they bring or repatriate Indonesian citizens who are involved in the scamming network to Indonesia," continued Sandi.

The perpetrators came from various countries, such as China, the Philippines to Indonesia. From the results of the data collection, it was recorded that 154 Indonesian citizens (WNI) were suspected of being involved.

However, from the results of the examination and deepening, only two people were declared suspects.

"Of the 154 Indonesian citizens, 9 were witnesses and 2 were suspects. The rest were still indicated by the victim. However, the investigation is still developing," said Sandi.
