JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected the emergence of tropical cyclone seeds 93W in the North Pacific Ocean, North Maluku which has the potential to affect weather and sea waves in Indonesian territory in the next few days.
Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto said the 93W tropical cyclone seeds were precisely at around 7.9 deg. 128.9 longitude east with a maximum wind speed of 20 knots, a minimum air pressure of 1005.4 millibars (mb).
"The Himawari-9 satellite image of the Enhanced-IR channel shows a decrease in convective cloud activity in the last six hours," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 2.
He explained that environmental conditions around the system that support seed growth include warm sea level temperatures ranging from 30-32 degrees Celsius, and moderate to strong vorticity in the lower to middle layers.
From the global scale NWP model, he continued, it shows the system's propagation to the northwest towards the mainland of the Philippines.
BMKG estimates that the potential of these seeds to grow into tropical cyclones in the next 24 hours will be in the low category.
