Rest Area Manager Values Government Policy Adds Number Of Eid Holidays Able To Unravel Backflow Density

JAKARTA - Rest Area Heritage Manager KM260B Banjaratma said the Government's policy of increasing the number of Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri holidays could unravel congestion during the Lebaran backflow.

"This year the holiday is quite long, different from last year. Last year, traffic is 16,000 vehicles per day, a maximum of 20,000 vehicles. As for the current return flow, it is the highest at 17,000 vehicles," said President Director of PT PP Synergi Banjaratma Dina Yunanda as the manager of Rest Area Heritage KM260B in Brebes, Central Java, quoted from Antara, Saturday, April 29.

Dina explained that the highest number of vehicles entering the Rest Area Heritage KM260B Banjaratma on Monday 24 April was 11,000 vehicles and on Tuesday 25 April it reached 17,000 vehicles. The government predicts the two days as the peak of the 2023 Eid backflow for the first wave.

Furthermore, Wednesday 26 April, the Rest Area Heritage KM260B Banjaratma recorded an average of 9,000 vehicles per day. Dina said that one of the other policies that played a role in reducing density was the one-way system that was implemented during the 2023 Eid backflow.

Rest Area Heritage KM260B Banjaratma is on Line B, which is the route leading to Jakarta.

The one-way policy on toll roads from the Kalikangkung Toll Gate (GT) KM414 Semarang to GT Cikampek Utama KM72 allows return travelers to take advantage of the rest area on Line A, which is generally used by travelers who leave Jakarta.

"The current is in a few days one way, so it is divided, all of which should be Path B is divided into lanes B and A. So, this year's traffic was the highest in 17,000 vehicles," said Dina.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi predicts the peak of the second backflow will take place on Sunday 30 April and Monday 1 May.

Budi said traffic engineering, such as contraflow, one way, and other engineering would be carried out in accordance with the situation and conditions on the ground.

He also reminded the public to ensure that the balance of electronic cards is sufficient to pay the toll road, so as not to cause queues because they have to fill the balance at the toll gate.
