PPP Agrees KIB Can Hold A Presidential Candidate Or Vice Presidential Candidate In The Great Coalition

JAKARTA - Acting (Plt) Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Muhammad Mardiono agreed if the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) gets a presidential candidate (candidate) or vice presidential candidate (cawapres) in the Great Coalition. "Of course we agree, yes, not only from KIB, PPP also hopes that PPP will be given the opportunity," said Mardiono at the PPP DPP Office, Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, April 19. Mardiono hopes that PPP can be trusted again to lead Indonesia. The reason is, one of the best PPP cadres was given the mandate to become vice president by the Indonesian people, namely Hamzah Haz. "Once given the mandate, of course, all hope that all ideas, ideas, and political struggles are implemented by the executors who execute the idea," he added. Previously, Mardiono was also optimistic that he could restore the glory of the party bearing the Kaaba in the 2024 General Election. "To restore the glory of PPP, we will increase the seat acquisition in the 2024 General Election, and currently it is being carried out optimally," he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 12. Currently, he said, PPP is starting to prepare the administrative readiness of legislative candidates throughout Indonesia. "The main discussion focuses on the administrative readiness of baulaleg in accordance with the specified schedule," he said. Registration for presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled for October 19, 2023 to November 25, 2023. Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
