SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said religious teachers are at the forefront of broadcasting religious moderation. Therefore, religious teachers need to get special attention.

Ganjar has realized this special attention by disbursing a budget of IDR 277 billion to provide incentives for religious teachers with a total of 230,830 recipients, by 2023.

Ganjar said the assistance was part of the Central Java Provincial Government's commitment to seeking the welfare of religious teachers. From this incentive program, each teacher gets IDR 1.2 million per year.

"Yes, we are still able to help religious teachers. There are teachers from Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, all of them," said Ganjar at the Central Java Governor's Office, Semarang City, Central Java, Thursday, April 13.

Incentives are given to religious teachers from 5 different religions, namely Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. The recipient details include 223,373 Islamic religious teachers, 5,651 Christian religious teachers, 1,089 Catholic religious teachers, 548 Hindu religious teachers, and 169 Buddhist religious teachers.

Furthermore, Ganjar Pranowo said that religious teachers are the spearhead in providing education to every community. Mainly lessons related to religious knowledge, manners, and also diversity.

"There are religious values, ethical values, national values so they can give examples of how to moderate religion," said Ganjar.

Because of that, Ganjar also thanked religious teachers in Central Java who had provided good education to their students. Ganjar hopes that these religious teachers will be more enthusiastic about teaching with this incentive.

"Hopefully this little assistance from the government can help encourage them," said Ganjar.

Meanwhile, the number of religious teachers receiving incentives in 2023 will increase when compared to incentive recipients in 2022, which are only 211,455 people. Ganjar said that the increase in the number of recipients was done to guarantee the rights of religious teachers.

Ganjar has also coordinated with the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) to ensure that the data on religious teachers who receive incentives is valid.

“So we are working with the Ministry of Religion. It is the Ministry of Religion that carries out the validation verification, so that data is what we use, for us to be able to provide the actual amount of the budget given out of the available amount," said Ganjar Pranowo.
