Search And Rescue Team Search For 2 Punk Kids Dragged By Waves In Pangandaran

PANGANDARAN - The combined Search And Rescue (SAR) team is searching for two kids from the Punk community who were lost in the waves while swimming on the West Coast, Pangandaran Regency, West Java.

"We haven't found the kids, who are often called punk kids," said the Head of the Water and Air Police Unit of the Pangandaran Police (Satpolairud), AKP Sugianto, reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 24.

The two victims are identified as Iwan (28), a resident of Karawang, West Java, and Rafael (17), a resident of Tegalsari, Central Java, who were reportedly swept away by the waves while swimming at Pangandaran Beach, Thursday (23/3).

The disaster that befell the two members of the Punk community, he said, occurred when the victim and his colleagues were swimming at Post 5 on the West Coast of Pangandaran.

Some of the victims' colleagues then returned to the mainland, but not long after walking towards the mainland, the victim screamed for help because he was dragged by the currents of the waves until he finally disappeared.

"The victims screamed for help, and when the witness looked, it turned out that the two victims had been swept away by the current and disappeared," said Sugianto.

A number of witnesses then asked for help to help the victim, until finally, officers from Balawista, then the Pangandaran Satpolairud, and other elements conducted a search for the victim.

Sugianto said the victim swam in a location that was quite dangerous, or an area where swimming was prohibited because the waves were quite big.

"Yes, it's a no-go zone for swimming activities," he said.
