JAKARTA - Chinese automotive manufacturer BYD has achieved extraordinary achievements by recording shipments of more than one million units for the Han and Tang series. According to a recent report, BYD has delivered 505,062 units for the Han series and 501,662 units for the Tang series, with the total delivery of the two series reaching 1,006,724 vehicles.

The delivery of Han and Tang series includes several models, such as Han DM-i Champion Edition, Han DM-p Ares Edition, Han EV Qianshancui Limited Edition, Tang DM-i Champion Edition, Tang DM-p, and Tang EV, as reported by the Carnewschina page on June 25.

The Tang DM series was introduced in January 2015 with second-generation DM technology BYD and launched under the campaign "542 Strategy". This car has a price range between 279,800 to 518,800 yuan (around Rp581.6 million to Rp1,078 billion). The "542" strategy emphasizes car performance, including 0-100 km/hour acceleration in 5 seconds, electric four-wheel drive (4WD), and fuel consumption below 2L/100 km. This Tang series is the beginning of BYD's journey in presenting new energy vehicles.

In July 2020, the Han series was launched with three versions of pure electricity and one hybrid variant for the Chinese market. Within one year of its debut, Han managed to achieve production of 100,000 units from the production line, making it a sedan from China that reached the production rate quickly.

Before reaching the figure of one million units, the Tang series had sold more than 440,000 vehicles, while the Han series had sold more than 430,000 vehicles in December 2022. The launch of the Champion Edition in these two series pushed the total BYD shipments exceeding one million units.

In March this year, BYD launched the Han EV and Tang DM-i Champion Edition models with prices ranging from 209,800 to 299,800 yuan (around Rp435.9 million to Rp623 million) and 209,800 to 233,800 yuan (around Rp436 million to Rp485.9 million).

BYD has become a rising automotive manufacturer by offering high-tech but still affordable electric cars. Their achievements in selling several million units in the global market even won praise from Tesla boss Elon Musk.
