JAKARTA - The Indonesian Energy Conservation and Efficiency Society (Maskeei) supports PT Astra Internasional Tbk's efforts in carrying out the Astra Green Energy mission. This step is also to help the government achieve the net zero emission target in 2060.

This was conveyed by the Head of the RM Soedjono Respati Maskeei in the Indonesia Energy Efficiency and Conservation Conference & Exhibition (IEECCE) 2023 in Tangerang, Banten, Thursday, June 13, 2023. The event was also attended by the Head of Environment Astra, Bondan Susilo.

Jon Respati, as Maskeei is familiarly called, believes that Astra as an old company operating in Indonesia, is able to carry out various principles to achieve Astra Green Energy and net zero emissions in 2060. Moreover, Astra has more than 270 subsidiaries.

"I trust Astra's intention to help Indonesia. Both from the production process, producing goods and services, but in the itikat it helps Indonesia in achieving net zero emissions 2060, I have no doubts anymore," said Jon Respati at the event.

Meanwhile, Astra's Head of Environment, Bondan Susilo, confirmed that he had made various efforts to achieve Astra Green Energy.

So far, one of the efforts made is to carry out energy elemination or conservation. This policy is implemented in controlling carbon emissions.

These steps include not wasting unused energy on Astra factories, especially automotive manufacturing.

"This is important for conglomerate companies like us. Because we want to reorganize more than 200 of our company's children have one common vision of transition," Bondan explained.

One of the efforts to accelerate the energy transition is the Memorandum of Understanding between PT PLN (Persero) and the Astra Group. The cooperation between PLN and the Astra Group to accelerate the clean energy transition is through the installation of Roof PLTS and the development of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.

The agreement between PLN and Astra also includes a cooperation plan for the development of the Green Energy program, the exchange of knowledge and development of the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle (KBLBB) ecosystem. Also, the provision of Roof and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) services as a form of commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

PLN and Astra are also committed to supporting the acceleration of the use of EBT through the installation of Roof PLTS in 94 locations spread across Indonesia with a total capacity of 10.94 megawatt peak (MWp).

Previously, the Astra Group managed to save an operational cost of IDR 127 billion with a total reduction in greenhouse gas by 235,000 tons of CO2eq. This is one of the contribution of sustainability to the environment.

Along with climate change mitigation and adaptation, Astra is also trying to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Through the Astra Green Energy program, solar panels are installed with a total capacity of 10.9 MWp, and have succeeded in reducing energy use by 1,800 Terajoule.
