Minister Of PUPR Basuki: Even Though There Is A Political Year, The Development Of IKN Nusantara Continues As Planned

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) would continue to run according to the government's plan in the middle of the political year approaching the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

"Continue, for me there is no business," said Basuki at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, April 28.

Basuki said the government also continues to convince investors that the construction of the new capital city in East Kalimantan to replace Jakarta continues.

The continuation of IKN development, said Basuki, has been shown by the government since the discourse first rolled out. Although there are many pros and cons, future city development continues to this day, where it has entered the physical development of a number of government infrastructures and offices.

"From the beginning, it was like that, but we still convinced you. Indeed, there have been some who are said to be in Letter of Intent (LoI)," he said.

Basuki has also followed up on investor wishes through coordination with the IKN Authority.

"Through me, we have handed over some 'LoI' to the Authority," he said.

The government, said Basuki, already has a legal basis for the IKN Law along with all derivative regulations. Therefore, investors are expected not to hesitate with the sustainability of IKN development.

The Ministry of PUPR previously released an official map of the spatial planning plan (RDTR) and land use procedures for the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim).

In the map, it is also explained the appearance of the central government (KIPP) core area in IKN with an area of 6,600 hectares.

Until early April 2023, the achievement of the average physical development in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, has reached 25 percent.

The Ministry of PUPR is building Government Central Core Areas (KIPP) such as the presidential office, presidential palace, office for four coordinating ministers, housing complex ministers, toll roads, arterial roads, dams, national axis, Wastewater Processing Installation (IPAL), waste treatment installations, drinking water treatment installations, and other infrastructure.

The government targets that in August 2024, the ceremony to commemorate the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia can be held at IKN.
