Sugar Import Corruption Case, AGO Examines President Director Of PT Angels Product
JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has examined six witnesses related to the alleged corruption case of sugar imports at the Ministry of Trade for the 2015-2016 period. One of them is the President Director of PT Angels Product.
"Investigating TWNG as the President Director of PT Angels Product," said Head of the AGO, Harli Siregar, to reporters, Wednesday, December 18.
However, it was not conveyed in detail about the examination material which took place on Tuesday, December 17. Only a few things were mentioned, one of which was about the identities of the other five witnesses.
They are ABS as the former Director of PT Angels Product for the 2015-2016 period; ES as Director of PT Permata Dunia Sukses Utama; TSEP as Director of PT Makassar Tene; and RK as Chef Legal Officer of Makassar Tene.

In addition, investigators also examined another witness who came from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), namely AM as the Manager of Youth Experts.
"The witness examination was carried out to strengthen the evidence and complete the filing in the case," said Harli.
So far, more than a hundred witnesses have been questioned. The number will continue to grow as the investigation process progresses.
In this case, the AGO named Tom Lembong, who was the Minister of Trade in the 2015-2016 period as a suspect. The reason is because he gave permission to import 105,000 tons of sugar to private companies.
The granting of the permit violates the Decree of the Minister of Trade Number 527 of 2004. This is because only state-owned companies or SOEs are allowed to import sugar.
Thus, Tom Lembong was charged with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 Juncto Article 18 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Corruption Crime in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the 1st Criminal Procedure Code.
