JPO Footing Plate In West Jakarta Stolen, DPRD Says Provincial Government Not Wholeheartedly Safeguarding DKI Assets

JAKARTA - Member of Commission D DPRD DKI Jakarta Justin Adrian Untayana assesses that DKI Provincial Government (Pemprov) is not serious about protecting regional assets. This is evident from the recent cases of theft of iron plates for pedestrian bridges (JPO) in West Jakarta.

In fact, cases of theft of JPO iron plates have also occurred. This indicates that the DKI Provincial Government (Pemprov) has not taken further preventive steps since the first case occurred.

"In my opinion, these agencies are indeed not wholehearted in protecting regional assets. With this incident being repeated, it means that from the first and second incidents, there were no preventive steps," said Justin when contacted, Monday, August 7.

Justin warned that DKI Provincial Government should not be seen as allowing the theft of regional assets which resulted in budget swelling due to allocations for repairs to JPOs whose assets were lost.

Moreover, the DKI Provincial Government already has a command center managed by the Bina Marga Agency to monitor public facilities 24 hours a day, as well as accommodate complaints from the public.

"They have a command center and what is the function of this command center? Is it running or not? Because creating a JPO is not cheap and it also uses tax money. If it is not properly looked after, I think it is less responsible for using the budget," he said.

The lack of supervision of public facilities actually harms the road user community. As happened at JPO Sahabat, Daan Mogot Street, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta. The Iron Plates for pedestrian steps were stolen on 2 August.

At least, there were four missing pieces of JPO iron flooring that were allegedly stolen by thieves. As a result of the loss of the iron plate flooring, people's access to crossing the road through the JPO was also blocked.

In fact, this isn't the first time this has happened. In the first incident last June, there were 2 pieces of JPO iron floor plates missing and currently, there are 4 pieces of iron floor plates that are missing again.

Then, there was another case of theft of iron plates at JPO Warung Gantung, Kalideres on Sunday, August 6 evening. As a result of this incident, the West Jakarta Bina Marga Department installed a safety line on the part of the JPO where the footing plate was missing.
