Ganjar Ready To Continue Jokowi's Downstreaming Program, Downstream Mineral, Maritime And Digital
JAKARTA Will the 2024 presidential candidate from PDIP, Ganjar Pranowo is ready to continue the downstream program of President Joko Widodo. In fact, not only downstreaming mineral resources, Ganjar is ready to encourage downstreaming of other sectors, including digital downstreaming.
This was conveyed by Ganjar after attending the Inauguration of the Indonesian Employers' Association (APINDO) DPN at Kempinski Grand Ballroom Jakarta, Monday, July 31. In the event, President Joko Widodo and a number of related ministers were present.
"Earlier, Mr. President Joko Widodo emphasized that the downstream project must be continued. Not only one product, but the downstreaming of many products that we have," he said.
President Jokowi continued Ganjar to explain his success in the nickel downstream program. In addition, Jokowi will also downstream other mineral products, such as tin, bauxite and copper.
"Even Pak Jokowi hopes that in the future downstreaming will be carried out in other sectors including marine and plantations. He samples the downstreaming of seaweed, coconut and others," he explained.
The downstream program, Ganjar continued, must be continued. Not only downstreaming in the mineral or marine and plantation sectors, Ganjar even encourages downstreaming to also be carried out in the digital sector.
"If necessary, we will downstream the digital industry. That way, the creative economy can emerge," he explained.
Ganjar emphasized that many products and potentials can be lost in Indonesia. And nickel downstream is an example that has proven successful at this time.
"From that program, we can have a fairly high added value. And that can be a spirit to encourage others. That's already an example that we are working on. So let's increase downstreaming on other products, so that we become an independent nation in the economic field," he concluded.
On that occasion, President Joko Widodo explained the importance of Indonesia continuing the downstream program. Because, from one nickel sector only, Indonesia gets a very large added value.
"In the past, I thought exports of raw nickel were only IDR 31 trillion. After downstreaming, our income from nickel rose to IDR 510 trillion," he said.

For this reason, Jokowi emphasized that the downstream program must continue. Not only nickel, but to other products such as bauxite, tin and copper.
"Even though we are sued by the WTO and reminded by the IMF, whatever this item (hilirization) we must continue," he concluded.
