Competitors For The Ford Ranger Raptor From China Greet Malaysia's Automotive Market

JAKARTA - Great Wall Motors (GWM), an automotive company from China, has further confirmed its presence in the global market by introducing Cannon P12's pickup truck, for the Malaysian market.

GWM Cannon P12 comes as a pickup truck with a dual-cab type that focuses on passenger vehicles. Unlike Cannon P11, his brother is intended for commercial vehicles.

Quoted from the Paultan page, Thursday, July 20, Cannon P12 features a wider grILL design with chromo accents and horizontal lines, and is equipped with headlights for the day.

This pickup truck also has LED front and rear lights for better lighting, adjustable rearview mirrors, and an integrated baggage foothold.

In its cabin, GWM presents skin-coated cabins, electrically regulateable chairs, 7-inch digital instrument clusters, 9-inch touchscreen digital unit heads connected to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as Keyless Entry.

In order to provide comfort and security for P12 users, the manufacturer also embeds various security systems, including six airbags, 360-degree cameras, Electronic Parking Brakes, Traffic Sign Recognition, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Autonomous Emergency Braking.

As a pickup truck, P12 is claimed to be capable of facing various terrains. Powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine capable of generating up to 161 dk of power and 400 Nm of torque, Cannon P12 is equipped with an eight-speed transmission system ZF and four-wheel drive, making it a reliable vehicle.

Even so, when compared to its competitor, the Ford Ranger Raptor, Cannon P12 is still losing power in terms of runways. The Ford Ranger Raptor, which also has a 2.0 liter engine but with a diesel bi-turbo, is capable of generating up to 207 dk of power and 500 Nm of torque.

GWM Cannon P12 greets the automotive market in Malaysia at a price of 127,800 Malaysian ringgit or around Rp421.7 million.
