AHY Affirms KPP Remain Solid Ahead Of The 2024 General Election
Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudoyono (AHY) emphasized that the Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP) remains solid until the registration of pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 election."NasDem, PKS, and Democrats are solid and we want to continue to build togetherness both in our thoughts, ideas, and in our work and struggles," he said at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK), Senayan, Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, July 16.AHY together with a number of Democratic elites attended the invitation to a change alert rally attended by hundreds of thousands of NasDem cadres from various regions in Indonesia. In addition, PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu was also present with several party elites.AHY emphasized that the three political parties in the coalition continue to build mutual trust and strengthen each other."We are three parties that have now built a coalition, hopefully a good path will be given," he hoped.Regarding the future vice presidential candidate (cawapres) from the coalition, AHY emphasized that this had been completed and fully handed over to presidential candidate Anies Baswedan."We are all three parties in accordance with the signed coalition charter, handing over the vice presidential candidate to Mas Anies, of course according to the criteria and can both bring victory," he said.Based on the schedule set by the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023.As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.
Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
