Hyundai Exceeds Expectations With Increased Sales Of Electric Cars In The United States
Jakarta - Hyundai is one of the leading manufacturers in producing electrified vehicles. This is evidenced by the launch of several new electric vehicle models and their fairly high production figures.
Real evidence lies in sales in the United States. Hyundai Motor America reported sales of 69,351 units in June, with 4,298 units of which were sales of Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6.
Reported by InsideEVs on Sunday, June 2, Hyundai's electric car sales figure has increased significantly by 51 percent compared to last year, setting a new monthly record.
In detail, sales of electric cars using the E-GMP platform reached 3,136 units for Ioniq 5 and 1,162 units for the Ioniq 6 electric sedan. Both managed to record the highest sales record during the sales period.
Although Hyundai did not specifically mention sales figures, it seems that other electric-powered models such as Hyundai Kona Electric also managed to achieve good sales.
"Line-up electric cars that have won various awards we continue to build momentum by recording the best monthly sales in history for Ioniq 5, and achieving first sales of more than a thousand units for Ioniq 6. Strong retail partners and the presence of the product at the right time have allowed us to attract new customers and maintain Hyundai brand loyal customers," said Hyundai Motor America CEO Randy Parker.
In the second quarter, sales of E-GMP-based electric cars have also reached 10,928 units, or an increase of 47 percent compared to last year. During 2023, Hyundai has managed to sell 16,886 units, both Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 in the United States, an increase of 23 percent compared to the previous year.
However, it should be noted that the sales figures do not include units of electric vehicles or other plug-in hybrids. The sale is actually calculated in conjunction with conventional hybrid or non-electric machines.
