Dillian Whyte Finally Responds To Anthony Joshua's Challenges

JAKARTA The heavyweight boxer Dillian Whyte is said to have accepted an offer to fight against Anthony Joshua (AJ). Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, said the contract regarding the fight had also been sent to Whyte.

This was after previous negotiations were announced to have failed.

"They said no contact was made. However, they are happy to accept the offer. So, they have clearly accepted the offer," Hearn told Boxing Social, quoted by The Sun.

The two heavyweight boxers had previously negotiated for a duel on August 12. However, the conversation did not reach an agreement point because Whyte refused.

Hearn said that the rejection was due to several things in the offer that did not match Whyte's wishes. However, they were later said to have agreed against Joshua so that the contract was sent immediately.

"Now they suddenly appeared today and said they accepted the offer. It was right when we were about to announce or are in final negotiations with other opponents," Hearn said.

"We immediately focused on Dillian and said 'can you confirm that you accepted the offer' and they said 'yes, we accept' and I said 'fantastic'. So, we will give them a contract," he added.

Joshua, 33, is also in talks to face 37-year-old Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia in December. However, he wanted another fight before that.

For that, AJ is battling time to find the right opponent. Therefore, Hearn hopes that a deal with Whyte, which Joshua lost in 2015, can be realized.

"They will sign today's contract. We have to move quickly. However, if they are serious, that match could be 100 percent going on. This is still AJ's desired fight for August 12," Hearn said.
