Pertamina Will Trial Tebu Fuel In East Java, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) will conduct a trial of selling fuel from a mixture of bioethenol or E5 and Pertamax in early June 2023.

Pertamina Spokesperson, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, said that the first phase of the trial would be carried out at several Pertamina General Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) in East Java. According to him, the election for the East Java region as the first city of trials was because the bioethenol producing plant used was in a contested area.

"Yes, the initial stage is at several gas stations in Surabaya. Surabaya is close to a bioethenol factory in Mojokerto," said Fadjar to VOI via text message, Monday, June 26.

However, Fadjar was reluctant to divulge the details of the price to be imposed on environmentally friendly fuels. However, he guaranteed that the price price price was not much different from the same fuel.

"The price will be on launch, but those who will definitely compete with fuel in their class at RON 95," he said.

Fadjar said, the new fuel will contain the value of octane or research octane number (RON) 95 or the equivalent of Pertamax Plus. Pertamax Plus itself is no longer sold by Pertamina. "This mixing will increase to RON 95," said Fadjar.

Previously, the Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana said that if starting in early July, the government would test the use of cane-based bioethenol mixed with fuel oil (BBM).

Dadan said that for the initial stage, he had prepared 100,000 KL bioethenol, but because it was still in the trial stage, it would start with 40,000 KL.

Later, this bioethenol will be produced by two companies, namely PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) and a private company in Malang, Molina.
