Tommy Suharto's BLBI Assets Are Still Not Selling, The Ministry Of Finance Reveals The Cause
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) through the Directorate General of State Assets confirmed that a number of assets belonging to Hutomo Mandala Putra alias Tommy Suharto that were confiscated by the state because related to Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) had not yet been sold.
Director General of State Assets of the Ministry of Finance Rionald Silaban said that Tommy's total assets that have been controlled by the state reached a value of IDR 2 trillion.
The land that we confiscated was about 120 hectares, which amounted to around Rp. 2 trillion. The next step we will take is to re-auction," he told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 20.
Rionald explained that the determination of the selling price imposed would be based on the results of the auction that had been carried out previously.
"This means that an assessment will be carried out, an adjustment will be carried out, so it is hoped that it can be sold," he said.
Rionald admits that it is not easy to get buyers from these assets. The reason is, the value of the goods sold is quite jumbo. Not to mention the condition of the national economy which is still in the recovery stage after the pandemic in recent years.
"Indeed, in conditions like this, it may not be easy to find a buyer who can immediately buy up a large 'parcel' at a large cost too," he said.
Sri Mulyani's subordinates also did not rule out the possibility of being able to break up the assets at auction so that they could be more affordable by potential buyers.
However, the process in that direction takes longer considering this is related to the administration process.
"If for example we separate, the letter (land certificate) must be broken down, it will take time. But now we will do another auction by adjusting the price," said Rionald.
