KSP Asks PT Pertagas To Have A Roadmap To Reach Net Zero Emission
JAKARTA - The Office of the Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) encourages PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) to accelerate the development of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) business or liquefied natural gas in Indonesia as a source of clean energy to reduce carbon emissions. This is in line with Indonesia's commitment to reduce emissions by 29 percent by 2030 and achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) or zero carbon emissions by 2060.
"It is hoped that PT Pertagas will have a roadmap to achieve NZE to support energy transition efforts towards cleaner sustainability," said Deputy I of the Presidential Chief of Staff, Febry Calvin Tetelepta, at the Bina Graha building in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 14.
Febry's statement refers to the results of his working visit with PT Pertagas to Tokyo Gas, a gas company in Japan, on Monday, June 12. The visit aims to see firsthand Tokyo Gas's efforts in achieving Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2050.
Febry revealed that Tokyo Gas has done three things in achieving NZE. First, decarbonization through the use of advanced energy technology, such as CCUS, e-Metana, and Hydrogen. Second, ensuring the resilience of energy supply by diversifying energy sources, including renewable energy. Third, make effective use of existing infrastructure by introducing e-Metana technology, which can reduce additional social costs.

"Learning from this, collaboration between Tokyo Gas and PT Pertagas in the development of clean energy technology and investment in the gas sector is an open possibility," said Febry.
Indonesia itself has a roadmap to achieve NZE by 2060. The target is to achieve a new and renewable energy mix of 23 percent by 2025.
