This Technological Carbon Fiber Is Claimed To Have The Strongest Material, Will Be Used As EV Battery Casing
JAKARTA - French company Nawa Technologies is reportedly conducting an innovation trial called Nawatitch as an effort to reduce carbon emissions in the automotive industry.
Nawastitch is a method to strengthen traditional carbon fibers to achieve an increase in resistance to damage and collisions by 900%, while reducing its weight by 20-30%, Autocar reported Monday, June 5.
By increasing strength and reducing component weight, this technology not only improves vehicle performance, but also has the potential to reduce fuel consumption and increase energy efficiency.
Nawastitch has been used commercially in sports bike rims, and the material is also aimed at producing tougher and lighter EV battery casings. In addition to reducing weights, the plan is to use this material electrical conductivity to turn casings into integral heating elements, thereby helping to reduce the complexity of battery temperature setting systems.
Apart from being a light booster material, nanotubes are also a good basis for ion lithium battery anodes and other battery chemicals.
This carbon fiber component consists of a carbon fiber cloth layer that is woven together within the layer using resin. The weakness occurs when the resin breaks due to impact or vibration damage, and cracks form across these layers. By adding a Nawastitch layer between the carbon fiber mat layers, they are connected and that is the source of additional strength provided.
This material is being developed to replace the aluminum base and plastic superstructure of EV battery casings, to make them stronger but lighter.

Nawastitch is also used to make lighter and stronger hydrogen storage tanks for cell-fueled vehicles and hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engines. Currently, these tanks are undergoing laboratory tests and are expected to be available to customers by 2024.
