BPBD Lebak Reminds Residents Of Pesisir Banten Selatan To Beware Of Rob Floods
BANTEN - The Regional Disaster Management Agency of Lebak Regency, Banten reminded the coastal community of southern Banten waters or the Indian Ocean to be aware of tidal flooding following the phenomenon of the new moon phase and Perigee, the closest distance from month to earth."The potential for flooding on the southern coast of Banten 4-8 June 2023 is based on reports from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG)," said Head of the Lebak BPBD Emergency and Logistics Section Agust Riza Faesal in Lebak, Antara, Sunday, June 4.Floods of high tides in the coastal areas of southern Banten waters have the opportunity at Binuangeun Beach, Wanasalam, Sukajan, Cihara, Panggarangan, Bayah, Pulomanuk, Sawarna and Tanjung Panto.BPBD Lebak has submitted an early warning letter to the coastal community of southern Banten waters to increase awareness of tidal flooding.Tidal floods have an impact on the activities of the community's economic activities, including fishermen, to unload fish at the port."We hope that coastal residents in the area will continue to increase their alert for tidal flooding in order to reduce the risk of disasters," said Agust.According to him, the phenomenon of tidal flooding is due to the new moon phase and the closest distance between the Moon and Earth that occurred June 4-8, 2023.Generally, he said, the new moon phase and the closest distance between the Moon and Earth have the potential for high tides that result in tidal waves.The tidal flood phenomenon is also marked by three lunar phases that can affect sea water into tides, including the new moon phase, the full moon phase, and the dark moon/dead phase."For three days before and after that phase, there is sufficient potential for tidal flooding," he explained.Agust explained that the high potential for tidal flooding occurred in each region differently.In fact, the height of the tidal flood was up to 80 centimeters until the local residents' houses were flooded with sea water.Therefore, the coastal community of southern Banten waters or the Indian Ocean should be aware of tidal flooding due to this natural phenomenon.BPBD Lebak is now preparing evacuation equipment as well as logistics to help coastal communities in the event of tidal flooding."We have not received any reports of tidal flooding today," said Agust.Meanwhile, a number of residents of the coastal waters of southern Banten admitted that they were still alert for tidal flooding after receiving a warning report submitted by BPBD Lebak.
"We hope that tidal flooding will not inundate the coast that could disrupt people's economic activities," said Rudi (50), a resident of Cihara, Lebak Regency.
