Pamekasan Regency Government Builds A National Standard Market Of IDR 81.7 Billion

PAMEKASAN - Pamekasan Regency Government (Pemkab), East Java built a people's market worth IDR 81.7 billion which has Indonesia's national standard (SNI) to increase competitiveness, support the smooth logistics and distribution of materials that are the needs of the community.

The Regent of Pamekasan Baddrut Tamam in Pamekasan, East Java, explained that the people's market which is currently being built and designed to own an SNI is Kolpajung Market, Pamekasan.

"Especially for the development of the people's market with SNI, we have allocated a budget of more than Rp. 81.7 billion, and currently the construction process is starting," Basri said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 2.

Kolpajung Market is the largest palawija market in Pamekasan Regency compared to other people's markets spread across various sub-districts in the region. This market is able to accommodate 1,213 traders.

The Regent explained that the desire to build a people's market with SNI with this modern concept is because in Madura, especially in Pamekasan Regency there is no people's market that meets Indonesia's National Standards.

In addition, this market will later become the first people's market on Madura Island which has Indonesia's National Standards.

The people's market, which is now being built by the Pamekasan Regency Government, experienced a fire in 2015.

According to Baddrut Tamam, at that time he had not yet served as Regent of Pamekasan and was still a member of the East Java DPRD.

"I was inaugurated in 2018, and in 2019 we reported to the Ministry of Trade that in Pamekasan there are several markets that need to be built, including the Kolpajung Market," he said.

Thanks to his efforts, the central government finally granted a request for financial support to rebuild the market with a modern and SNI concept.

"Hopefully it will run smoothly, and when it is finished in 2024 it will become a traditional market that will prosper us all," said the regent.

Previously, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the market on May 31, 2023, the Head of the Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of East Java, Reva Sastrodiningrat, explained that the Kolpajung People's Market is one of six traditional markets currently being built in East Java.

"And through the development of this market, it is hoped that the economy of the community will be better, so that it can realize prosperity for the surrounding community," he said.
