Police Arrest A Gang Of Agricultural Equipment Thieves In Ponorogo

PONOROGO - Ponorogo Resort Police, East Java arrested two of the four members of a gang of farmers' agricultural equipment thieves who were left in the rice fields in the area.

"These perpetrators are suspected of often carrying out their actions, stealing agricultural tools for farmers in several areas. Not only in Ponorogo," said Ponorogo Police Chief AKBP Wimboko as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 31.

The two perpetrators who were arrested had the initials AS (32) and S (38). Both are known to be residents of Bojonegoro Regency.

"Two other perpetrators are still at large. But we have pocketed their identities," he continued.

The agricultural equipment specialist thief gang has different roles and tasks. The US together with one perpetrator who is still at large, for example, played a direct role in the theft in identified rice fields. Meanwhile, S acts as a collector of stolen goods.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Ponorogo Police, AKP Nikolas Bagas Yudhi Kurnia, said that apart from Ponorogo, this gang of thieves from Bojoegoro also acted in the Pacitan district.

Suspect S even admitted that he had received stolen goods from the US cs more than three times.

"Each unit is sold, ranging from Rp. 2 million to Rp. 3 million. He said the money from the sale of stolen goods was used for personal needs per day," he said.

Niko said that from the hands of the two perpetrators, his party managed to secure a number of evidences, such as tractors, diesel and pickup cars used to transport stolen goods.

"The two perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison," he said.
