With EV9, Kia Optimistic Targets In Europe Achieved
JAKARTA - South Korea's second-largest automaker, Kia said on Tuesday, May 30, targeting sales of 93,000 electric vehicles (EVs) in Europe for 2023.
For now, EV sales have contributed 16 percent of the sales target of reaching 578,000 units of electric vehicles in Europe.
Reporting from local Korean media Yonhap, the pure electric Kia models available in Europe are Niro EV, Soul EV, and EV6. Last year, EVs accounted for 13 percent or 71,602 units of the total sales of 542,423 units in Europe.
Kia is quite optimistic that the target will be achieved because the new flagship three-line EV9 SUV model will soon launch in Europe. Last month, Kia launched EV9 in its country and plans to launch EV9 in stages in Europe, the United States, and other markets in the second quarter.
Kia EV9 is one of the most talked about SUVs since the start of the year equipped with a dedicated EV platform from the Hyundai Motor Group, called the E-GMP, which allows the creation of a wide space for all passengers to connect and relax with the convenience of the lounge style in its three rows of seats.
This electric car is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 99.8 kWh which is estimated to cover a distance of more than 500 km in one charge.
