It Takes IDR 100 Billion If The Indonesian League 1 Uses VAR

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (PT LIB) Ferry Paulus said his party needed approximately Rp. 100 billion to be able to implement the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system in Liga 1 Indonesia.

Liga 1 Indonesia is planned to use VAR technology in the second half of the 2023-2024 season. PT LIB will be in charge so that the technology is in the top caste of national football.

"It's not enough 10 or 20 billion, it's close to 100 billion," Ferry said in Jakarta on Friday as quoted by Antara.

In addition to requiring large costs, the system also requires regulations to be installed in 18 stadiums used in the Indonesian League 1. Fry said this cost is much greater than other Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. These countries have close geographical conditions so they do not require a large number of transmitter stations.

"In Thailand, with 16 clubs, he has four stations, then in Malaysia there are only six stations, in Singapore there are two stations. So what are all of them, in all clubs there is because in Indonesia this is geographically wide, the bandwidth is also varied," he said.

Liga 1 itself is scheduled by PSSI to be held starting on July 1.

"Yesterday, Ketum (Erick Thohir) also coordinated with related parties to strengthen the strength of signals and bandwidth and so on. If necessary, a tower will be built, that is the commitment of the General Chair," concluded Ferry.
