LeBron James Has Signaled Retirement From The NBA, Los Angeles Lakers Try To Hold Back

JAKARTA - Los Angeles Lakers player LeBron James has considered his future in the NBA. He admits he wants to end his 20-season career.

His comments came after the Lakers' failure to penetrate the NBA finals this season. The Lakers had to admit a landslide of 0-4 from Denver Nugets in the Western Final.

"We'll see what happens in the future. I don't know, I don't know. I have to think about a lot of things, to be honest. For me personally, to keep playing basketball, I have a lot to think about," said LeBron.

Los Angeles Lakers boss Rob Pelinka hopes LeBron James will continue his career in the NBA even though the basketball player has the right to retire.

"Our job at the Lakers organization is to support any player in our team if they reach a career change point. LeBron is surrounded by extraordinary people. I'm sure he will talk to them. In the coming days we will contact him and his team and really provide support for him," Pelinka said, quoted from AFP via Antara, Wednesday, May 24.

"Obviously, our hope is that his career will continue. But we want to give him time to reach that point of change and support him in everything he does."

Pelinka said it also respects LeBron's decision to retire. However, he and head coach Darvin Ham are still trying to talk together with the NBA's top scorer regarding his career on the basketball court.

"The coach and I will talk to LeBron in the coming days. We all know that he spoke for himself and we will look forward to the conversation when the time is right," Pelinka said.

LeBron himself is now 38 years old, and this also affects his performance in the field, although it is currently considered optimal.

In addition to being the NBA's top scorer, LeBron has also won four NBA champions along with Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

He also won four NBA MVP four-time awards, four NBA Final MVPs, and twice played Olympic gold medals with the United States team.
