Meta Presents The Capability To Change The Virtual World View Of Headset Quest Users
JAKARTA - The Virtual Reality (VR)-based Meta Quest headset has just gained a number of new features, with the ability to change the stunning views on the virtual world of its users.
With v54, a new version of Quest software, Meta is rolling out a new experimental feature dubbed the New Custom Skybox View, where users can bring their own high-resolution images into the virtual world or their home environment, as a VR background.
And, in the end, it can be used to teleport to a place that is not part of the default set. Because this feature is just an experiment for now, so if a friend visits, they won't be able to see the image used.
To enable this feature, look for Custom Skybox View under the Experimental Settings panel. Then go to the Personalization tab, scroll to the bottom of the Virtual Environment page, and select Custom Skybox View.
"We include several pre-installed themes, but you can also upload them yourself for the best results, use a 360-degree JPG or PNG measuring 6144x3160 pixels," Meta said in its official blog, quoted on Sunday, May 21.
Furthermore, Meta will also enable push notifications in the headset for 2D applications such as Messenger. When users start using compatible apps after the update, they will see messages asking to participate in headset notifications.
Once received, all apps in effect will be able to appear in the Quick Actions menu, so users can interact and engage quickly without leaving the game or app they are using. Like Messenger, which will display the sender's name and photo as well as message text.
Users can also consolidate messages from the same source to streamline notification passes, activate Do Not Disturb modes for more immersive VR sessions, or open the Settings menu to disable notifications on certain 2D applications and even turn off notifications in the full headset.
Earlier earlier this year in the v50 update, Meta has rolled out several upgrades to the Meta Quest Touch Pro controller. By reducing the time the controller needs to build and pair it to the headset, so users can enter the game faster.

But now with v54, Meta is re-launching an additional Meta Quest Touch Pro upgrade. Some changes are presented to tracking accuracy.
"In particular, we reduce and resolve occasional events where the controller position in the physical world doesn't match its place in VR because when you skip a block at Beat Saber, you want to know that it's your fault and it doesn't belong to the controller," explains Meta.
