Toyota Releases All-New Yaris Cross Challenges Honda HR-V And Mazda CX-3 SUVs At The Indonesian Market

JAKARTA - Toyota vehicle distributor in Indonesia, PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) presents the latest model in the form of a middle class SUV, namely All-New Yaris Cross with hybrid technology.

President Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), Hiroyuki Ueda, said that in a few years the Indonesian automotive market will enter the era of electrification. According to him, this direction is in accordance with the Indonesian government's policy regarding the use of emission-free vehicles.

"Toyota positively welcomes this step by presenting electrification products that have a complete technology choice. Starting from Hybrid EV, Plug-in Hybrid EV, to Battery EV with a wider and affordable model choice, and being in a larger segment to reach wider customers," Ueda said in an official statement.

Toru Uda, as Chief Engineer of All-New Yaris Cross, said the All-New Yaris Cross has the concept of "Solid & Dynamic", with a modern and compact SUV display, and has a dashing and tough design in its class.

"This SUV method combines a compact and dynamic SUV trend with the High-end SUV's appeal to create cars that look different and stand out from the crowd. At the same time, providing environmentally friendly mobility solutions for individuals or young families with an adventure with an active and dynamic lifestyle," Uda said at the launch at the Westin Hotel, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Monday, May 15.

The Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3 hosts have a capacity of five seats that offer driving comfort, have a compact size of 4,310 mm, a width of 1,770 mm, a height of 1,615 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,620 mm.

Toyota presents two variants on the All-New Yaris Cross, namely Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and gasoline (ICE) engines. Both are equipped with 1,500 cc 4-cylinder engines.

For the hybrid variant, it can generate 111 dk of power equipped with EV mode and CVT transmission which can optimize car driving performance.

Toyota also presents the Toyota Hybrid System (THS) in the hybrid variant and lithium-ion battery usage which can maximize the distance and performance of this car while in EV mode.

Meanwhile, the gasoline engine variant has a performance of 106 dk and a torque of 138 Nm. Toyota provides a manual transmission of five accelerations and CVT which can also contribute to fuel savings.

Another feature that Toyota presents in this SUV is Auto Brake Hold, 6-airbags, ABS, Parking Sensor, Emergency Stop Signal, Behicle Stability Control (VSC), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and many more.

Technology such as TSS and the T Intouch feature complement the mobility needs presented at the All-New Yaris Cross.
