PDIP: Jokowi Appreciates Surya Paloh's Political Attitude
Chairman of the PDI-P DPP Said Abdullah said President Joko Widodo appreciated the political attitude of the Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, who carried former governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate (candidate).
"President Jokowi respects Pak Surya's political stance, the General Chairperson of NasDem who nominated Anies Baswedan. There is no sentence that President Jokowi prohibits NasDem's political steps," Said said in a statement reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.
Said said Jokowi was aware of the boundaries of democracy and that each political party had the right and authority to nominate future presidential and vice presidential candidates.
He dismissed comments from the Professor of Constitutional Law Denny Indrayana who said Jokowicawe-caweata took part in the 2024 coalition and presidential election contestation (Pilpres).
Said again emphasized that every political party has their respective sovereignty to determine who their presidential and vice presidential candidates will be.
"It is very harassing the sovereignty of the parties if Denny Indrayana mentions President Jokowicawe-caweurusan of the presidential election," he said.

Previously, on Tuesday night (2/5), Jokowi invited six general chairmen of political parties at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, to discuss the political conditions of the country. Jokowi also dismissed his political move to invite the general chairman of the coalition party to interfere in political issues ahead of the 2024 General Election.
"A joke? Not a mess. It's a discussion, a joke, a discussion. I'm an official in politics. I'm not a mess," said Jokowi in Sarinah, Jakarta, Thursday (4/5).
He also emphasized that the matter of nominating the president and vice president in the 2024 presidential election is the domain of political parties or coalitions of political parties.
However, as a public official who is also a political official, Jokowi feels that it is okay to invite the general chairmen of the coalition party to discuss with him at the Merdeka Palace.
"If they invite me, (or) I invite them it's okay. What is the constitution that is violated from there? No. Please understand that I am a politician as well as a public official," said Jokowi.
