Google Prepares To Launch Cross-Device Services To Chromebook

JAKARTA - Last year at CES 2022, Google announced several of its new tools that will allow you to be able to access any chat on your Android phone using a Chromebook.

Now, Google has officially launched Cross-Device Services on the Play Store. Much broader, it seems that this application can access not only messages, but also other applications on your cellphone.

"This saves time and allows you to focus on when you're already using your Chromebook without having to switch devices," wrote Google in a description of its app on the Play Store.

The screenshot Google uploaded also shows the ChromeOS Phone Hub will display a "Recent apps" section with a row of icons and a link to the "All apps" list. You will be able to browse for "Apps from your phone" and then launch it.

"This app lets you do things like reply to messages, check rideshare status, or start/edit shopping lists from your Chromebook. This saves time and allows you to focus on when you're already using your Chromebook without having to switch devices," wrote Google further.

However, it seems that the jni application is actually not active yet, but quoting from a 9to5Google report, an updated version of the application is now rolling out to Google Pixel phones.

"We only saw the update being offered this afternoon on Pixel phones, but it can be installed on other Android devices. Our past work suggests that Android 13 may be a requirement," he said.

Google is slowly rolling out the Better Together announcements it made at CES 2022, including Fast Pair on Chromebooks and Nearby Share for Windows.
