Oil Refinery In Dumai Explodes And Burns, Pertamina Immediately Performs Recovery
DUMAI - PT Refinery Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Refinery Unit (RU) II Dumai, Riau Province, carried out the process of restoring the refinery after the explosion and fire incident in its gas compressor area on Saturday, April 1 at 22:54 WIB.
Area Manager Communication, Relations, & CSR RU Dumai, Agustiawan, explained that the recovery process was carried out so that refinery operations could run optimally again and affected residents could immediately return to normal activities.
"We have formed a recovery team that involves local governments, law enforcement, and community representatives, to accelerate recovery steps. Hopefully the recovery process can run well, so that in the next few days the operational condition of the refinery can run optimally," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, April 2.
For this reason, data collection on community losses is also in the process of being recorded. As a result of the incident, several houses of residents and houses of worship, especially those adjacent to the refinery, suffered minor damage.
PT KPI RU Dumai will soon cope with the damage that has occurred so that people can return to their activities comfortably. In addition, his party has also alerted a medical team to carry out health checks for the surrounding community.
"PT KPI RU Dumai apologizes for this incident. And we will be responsible for the losses that have occurred in the community," said Agustiawan.
Currently, he continued, the process of investigating the cause of the incident is still in the process of being investigated. The number of victims who received first aid due to being hit by broken glass increased from 5 people to 9 workers in the operator room.
"Everyone has returned to their respective homes after receiving treatment at Pertamina Dumai Hospital. We also make sure that the national fuel stock, especially the northern part of Sumatra, is safe," he said.

The Mayor of Dumai, Paisal, who directly checked the field, said that the condition of the refinery was safe and under control.
