Meta Will Remove All Oculus Accounts On March 29

JAKARTA METa Platform Inc, formerly known as Facebook, announced that it would delete all Oculus accounts. This deletion will take place on March 29.

When the account is deleted, the user will lose the friends list, various content created with Quest, and various other data. Therefore, all Oculus accounts are asked to migrate to the Meta account.

Through Quest user email, quoted from The Verge, Meta says that this deletion is done to turn off Oculus access completely. Users will not be able to reactivate their Oculus account.

"You may need to migrate to your Meta account using an email address associated with your Oculus ID before March 29, 2024. You can open here to migrate to your Meta account using a browserweb," Meta wrote.

Meta Quest is a product launched under the name Oculus in 2019. This name change was made after Facebook decided to change its name to Meta Platform Inc. at the end of 2021.

When it was first launched, Meta Quest needed an Oculus account to store data. However, the use of this Oculus account was terminated in 2020. All users are required to register with a Facebook account.

In 2022, Meta account support will begin to be added to the entire Quest virtual reality (VR)headset. This alternative was launched for users who don't want to scare their Facebook account into Quest devices.

Although the use of this Oculus account has been limited since four years ago, this account can still be used to access app purchase lists, store credits, and others. Therefore, Meta decided to delete the remaining Oculus accounts.
