JAKARTA Thanks to the European Digital Markets Act (DMA), WhatsAppakan supports chat rooms for third-party applications. This support will come in the form of the Third-party Chats feature.

This update will be implemented across European states. When the chat support with this third party is launched, WhatsApp users can directly connect with users of other messaging applications, such as Telegram and Discord.

According toWABetainfo, this new feature is still being developed. In the near future, WhatsApp will test their Third-party Chats support in beta 2.23.19.8 for Android devices and beta version 24.2.10.72 for iOS devices.

In fact, this update is coercion from DMA because WhatsApp is included in the gatekee category, as platforms that have an important role in Europe. Therefore, they implement an interoperability system.

Europe deliberately implements this rule so that users are not forced to download many messaging applications. They can choose to use any app and stay connected to other application users due to third-party support.

Although this feature looks promising and can save the capacity of the cellphone, WhatsApp has not explained in more detail about the security of Third-party Chats. It is also not known whether WhatsApp will add encryption-to-end.

Most likely, users in Europe must activate interoperability services manually in order to use Third Party Chat. Users are also entitled to disable this service and continue to use many applications at once.
