JAKARTA - Since the start of the Hamas-Israel war, TikTok, a short video sharing platform from the company ByteDance announced that it has removed more than 900 million videos in the region.

The reason is, because TikTok found violations of policies related to violence, hate speech, misinformation, and terrorism, including content promoting Hamas.

"During the same time period on TikTok globally, we have removed millions of content as we continue to enforce our policies consistently," TikTok wrote in a statement on its official website, Friday, November 3.

In addition, TikTok is also investing in platform moderation capabilities, including routine training for teams to keep updating hate speech and new types of behavior, listening to the community, and involving experts.

"We are committed to ensuring TikTok remains a safe platform for freedom of expression that represents the authentic views of our users posting to our platform every day," the company added.

In fact, since October 7, TikTok has claimed to have removed more than 24 million fake accounts globally and more than half a million bot comments on content with hashtags related to conflict.

Finally, TikTok has also launched reminders in Search for certain keywords in Hebrew, Arabic, and English to encourage users to be aware of potential misinformation and consult with official sources.
