JAKARTA - Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) reports its fourth-quarter earnings results for 2022, which mentions growth in the number of Facebook daily active users.

For the past year, as of December 31, 2022, Meta said that they had 2.96 billion daily active Facebook users. This number increased 2 percent from last year.

"Our community continues to grow and I'm excited about the strong engagement across our apps. Facebook just hit the milestone of 2 billion daily activity," said Mark Zuckerberg, founder, and CEO of Meta in the report.

According to Zuckerberg, this progress is supported by the company's AI technology inventions and the presence of Reels on the platform.

"The advances we've made to our artificial intelligence (AI) discovery engine and Reels are the main drivers of this beyond this," said the Meta big boss.

However, Facebook is not the only platform owned by Meta which has reached 2 billion daily users. Recently, according to Engadget's records, WhatsApp has also crossed 2 billion.

Additionally, CEO Mark Zuckerberg also touched on the company's recent restructuring, which resulted in the elimination of more than 11,000 jobs, saying that the corporate management theme for 2023 is the Year of Efficiency."

"Our management theme for 2023 is "The Year of Efficiency and we are focused on becoming a stronger and more agile organization."

Although the number of daily users has increased from year to year, Meta's revenue has shrunk over the past year.

It stated that the company's revenue of USD 32.2 billion (IDR 478.6 trillion) for the final quarter of 2022 was still slightly better than expected despite falling 4 percent from last year.
