JAKARTA - Jaguar is preparing to enter a new era as a fully electric car manufacturer. The British manufacturer will stop the production of gasoline-engine cars by June 2024. This decision marks the major transformation of Jaguar which targets to become an electric car brand (EV) starting in 2025.

In preparation for the presence of the latest generation of electric cars, Jaguar will continue to provide stock of their current gasoline cars until they are sold out. This means that consumers can still buy Jaguar gasoline cars such as XF sedans, E-Face and F-Face crossovers, until a few moments after production is stopped. The F-Type sport model itself has ended its production period in 2024.

Previously, Joe Eberhardt, North American Jaguar Land Rover President and CEO, was right to explain to Road & Track about this transition.

"Most of our gasoline car production will stop in June, but the cars will still be available for purchase for a long time," said Eberhardt.

"We have a production schedule that allows us to have continuous stock of vehicles until new electric cars arrive. Our goal is to set the time in such a way that the sales volume of gasoline cars is sufficient to launch new products and there is a smooth transition," he added.

Then, according to Caranddriver, March 5, to achieve this smooth transition, several gasoline models will likely remain for sale for more than a year after production is stopped. Jaguar itself has confirmed the presence of three new models built on the special platform of Jaguar electric car, JAA (Jaguar Electric Architecture).

The first model to be launched is a four-door GT electric car. Consumers can see the shape of this car before the end of 2024, with the delivery schedule starting in 2025.

Meanwhile, according to Automotive News, JLR CEO Adrian Mardell confirmed that the second electric model will be present by the end of 2025, followed by the third model in 2026.

This GT car, which is still not named, seems to be competing with high-performance electric sedans such as Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.

When Jaguar first introduced the GT car in April 2023, they estimated a selling price of around $127.000. Jaguar has not confirmed the power this car produces, but claims GT will be the strongest Jaguar ever.
