JAKARTA - BMW announced its plans to present a level 3 autonomous system driver assistance feature in the Series-7 model with an upgrade.
With this system, drivers can get their hands off the wheel and focus their attention on other activities outside of driving. This feature is different from other autonomous systems, such as BlueCruise from Ford, which still requires drivers to keep an eye on the road ahead.
Reporting from Autocar, Friday, November 10, this feature operates at a speed of 60 km/h on the highway via a structurally separated traffic lane. This system is able to control vehicle speed by adjusting the distance to the vehicle in front of it. However, the advantage of this feature is not limited to that.
The German manufacturer stated that their level 3 autonomous system is the only one that can operate in dark conditions. In addition, when the system is activated, drivers can perform various activities such as watching video streaming or editing emails while driving.
