Ramadan Cup PB Percasi 2024: 350 Competitive Participants

JAKARTA - As many as 350 participants from various provinces in Indonesia enlivened the 2024 Percasi PB Ramadan Cup chess championship which was held at the Kemenpora Building, Jakarta, on Saturday. The tournament, which has been a prestigious event for the last 21 years, not only provides opportunities for young chess players to show skills, but is also a meaningful gathering moment for the chess community.

"This tournament is more than just a chess competition, but also about maintaining the ties of brotherhood among the chess players. This is why we hold Ramadan Cups and Christmas Cups every year," said PB Percasi General Chair Utut Adianto, to reporters.

The 2024 PB Percasi Ramadan Cup, which is held in a fast chess format, competes in four categories, namely Open, Non Master, as well as the U-12 and U-16 age group categories. In addition to fighting for a total prize of 70 million Rupiah, the winners in this tournament also have the opportunity to get tickets to international competitions.

Utut Adianto emphasized that the enthusiasm of the participants in the PB Percasi Ramadan Cup has never decreased from year to year. However, he admits that the challenges faced by young chess players when entering the world of work can reduce their interest in chess a little.

"But we at PB Percasi are committed to providing a platform for chess players to stay involved in chess by holding annual tournaments, such as Ramadan Cup, Christmas Cup, and Japfa Cup," he explained.

Although the number of participants in the 2024 Ramadan Cup has decreased slightly compared to the previous edition, which was attended by 397 chess players from 21 provinces, the spirit of competition and the vibrantness of this event remained immovable.
