Manchester United Talks Barcelona To Discuss Mason Greenwood's Move?

JAKARTA - Manchester United are traveling to Spanish clubs in an attempt to sell Mason Greenwood.

Recently, high-ranking Manchester United and Barcelona officials have held a meeting. Reportedly, the meeting discussed Mason Greenwood's transfer, which is estimated at 43 million pounds.

The meeting was reported by Marca. The well-known Spanish sports media claims that high-ranking Man United have met Deco, Director of Sports Barca, to realize Greenwood's transfer.

Barcelona was previously reported to be interested in the 22-year-old player. They are even willing to compete with Getafe, Atletico Madrid, and the unnamed Saudi Arabian Pro League club.

The Blaugrana is clearly a good port for the English player. You see, Greenwood had expressed his intention to move to a club competing in the Champions League if Manchester United didn't want him to go home.

This means that the Getafe opportunity, which wants to make Greenwood permanent after the loan ends at the end of the season, is getting smaller. Likewise with the possibility of moving to the Saudi Arabian Pro League club.

Atletico Madrid could be another option following Greenwood's desire to appear in the Champions League. However, there are no serious signs of talks with Los Rojiblancos like Barca.

Greenwood is currently loaned to Getafe from Manchester United. He is still under contract with the Red Devils until 2025.

The midfielder has been 'disbanded' from Old Trafford since the alleged rape and sexual harassment case in 2022. In the aftermath, he was suspended and no longer played since January 2022.

However, all demands were dropped last year so the player was free to play football again. He then moved to Getafe on loan earlier this season in hopes of rebuilding his football career.

Greenwood's appearance with Getafe finally stole the show. A number of clubs immediately glanced at him.

In fact, Manchester United also wants to send Greenwood home after seeing his slick game in a loan period.

The plan was directly disclosed by Manchester United's minority shareholder, Sir Jim Radcliffe.

The problem is, some women's charities and groups supporting the Red Devils have confirmed that they will never welcome Greenwood back to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Greenwood is very welcome in Spain. In fact, La Liga president Javier Tebas stated that he didn't care about Greenwood's past.

"He was not convicted (he was found guilty). So, I don't care. If he is not punished here, why do we punish him?"

"Maybe things make it easier for him to come (to Getafe). However, he's a great player and I don't have any other comments to give."

"He played very well on Getafe as a player. I hope he continues to be successful and continues to stay in Spanish football because it is always good for us," said Tebas.

Greenwood has so far scored six goals and provided five assists in 23 games for Getafe.
