JAKARTA - Dani Alves' name will most likely be crossed out of the Barcelona legend list following the criminal sentence of the rape case that ensnared him.

Alves was sentenced to four years and six months in prison on February 22, 2024. He had to accept the reward for the rape of a 23-year-old woman in a nightclub in Barcelona in December 2022.

In addition, the 40-year-old defender was also ordered to pay a fine of 9,000 euros (Rp152.8 billion). The money must be paid for the physical damage to the victim.

Alves' lawyer, Ines Guardiola, said his client would appeal the ruling. Alves himself denied having committed the act.

In the midst of this unpleasant news, Goal International reported that Alves would also be removed from the club's list of legends. Quoted on Thursday, February 29, 2024, a source said that the decision was made due to the alleged case against Alves.

The list of legendary Barcelona players is 102 people. Famous names, such as Lionel Messi and the club's founder, Joan Gamper, are included in it.
