Emma Raducanu's Struggle Through A Difficult Time Of Injury

JAKARTA - Emma Raducanu reported that she was ready to compete again. Auckland Classic or ASB Classic 2024 is her first event for a comeback after one year of struggling with injury.

An ankle and leg injuries have disrupted his career. He had to miss throughout 2023.

The US Open champion at Flushing Meadows in 2021 told how his struggle was through injury. He had difficulty rehabilitating after several surgerys.

"I was going to play and then I had a time when I couldn't play anymore for two months because of one of my wrists. It was very difficult because I felt like I just started and then I pulled back again."

"It's difficult, especially in the first few months. When you get used to being active and moving all the time, suddenly everything breaks up (stops)."

Raducanu's wrist and leg injuries coincided. Not surprisingly, he had a hard time moving around.

"I had two wrists and one leg (injured) so I couldn't even use crew. I'm basically like a scooter and you're going to push yourself on one leg."

"It was very difficult. I can't go anywhere. I can't go to the supermarket, imagine if I can't move," said the 21-year-old tennis player at Sky Sports.

Even so, Raducanu was not discouraged. His enthusiasm to compete again is a trigger for recovery from injury.

He is now completely recovered. The first match at ASB Classic 2024 was crushed by beating Elena-Gabriela Ruse in three games.

"I think this clearly revives the spirit to compete again and makes me appreciate my health," said Raducanu.

During almost all of 2023 absences due to injury, Raducanu's ranking has dropped dramatically. He is now ranked 298th in the world.

Gradually, if there are no obstacles, the tennis player from Great Britain will improve his position throughout 2024.

Previously, Emma Raducanu was ranked 10th in the world. That is the highest ranking in her career achieved in July 2022.
