Brit Turner, Drummer Blackberry Smoke Dies After Fighting With Brain Cancer

JAKARTA - Brit Turner, drummer Blackberry Smoke died at the age of 57. The news of the musician's death was broadcast through the band's official Instagram account.

"With our deepest sadness we tell everyone that our brother, Brit Turner has left this life," Blackberry Smoke wrote in the caption of the post, seen Tuesday, March 5.

If you are lucky to get to know Brit, you must know that he is the person who cares the most, empathizes, is excited, and the most charming you ever want to meet. Brit is Blackberry Smoke's True North, a compass that organizes the ideology that will continue to guide the band," he continued.

In the upload, it was explained that Brit Turner died after battling glioblastoma or brain cancer that had been suffered for almost the last two years.

"Brit has been battling glioblastoma since his diagnosis in the fall of 2022 and struggling every day," wrote Blackberry Smoke.

"We ask for prayers for his family and band brothers. Further information and adjustments will be announced soon. Thank you to everyone who has supported and accompanied Brit and his family through this fight."

For information, Brit Turner is the initial member of the country rock band from the United States, Blackberry Smoke with Charlie Starr (vocals, guitar), Richard Turner (bass), and Paul Jackson (guitar) who debuted in 2000. Then, Brandon Still (keyboard) joined the band in 2009.

With Blackberry Smoke, Brit Turner has released eight studio albums. Some of the best known songs are One Horse Town, Waiting for the Thunder, and Good One Comin On.
