The Day Kurt Cobain Was Determined By The Mayor Of Aberdeen, February 20, 2014

JAKARTA - Today, 10 years ago, February 20, 2014, the whole city of Aberdeen, Washington, United States (US) welcomed the birthday of the late grunge phenomenal musician, Kurt Cobain with speciality. The city designated Kurt Cobain's Day and inaugurated its statue.

Previously, Kurt was known as a genius musician. His career skyrocketed when he formed Nirvana and famous. His name is known everywhere. Since then, Kurt and Nirvana have become free and genius icons of the younger generation in their work.

Kurt Cobain is a big name in the world music scene. The man who was born in Aberdeen, February 20, 1967 was able to prove that the struggle would not betray the results. However, Kurt's journey was not smooth.

He actually grew up as an emotional person. A trait that has grown since his parents' divorce. The divorce left a huge wound in Kurt's life. Kurt's life is uncertain. Drugs are once in a while his life partner.

If there is one thing that is most grateful for, it is his passion for music. Music is a forum for Kurt to express himself as well as let go of fatigue. He tried to merge himself into several local bands in Aberdeen. At its peak, he agreed with his friend Krist Novoselic, to form the band Nirvana, who later recruited Dave Grohl as the drummer.

Nirvana's presence brought a new color in her life. Nirvana also released her first album titled Bleach (1989). The presence of the album did have a place in society. However, not so big.

It's different when the second album Nevermind (1991) comes out. The album is selling well on the market. The charm was continued with a series of other albums. Nothing to stem it from. Nirvana was transformed into one of the influential bands in the history of world music.

Problems arise. Kurt started to become depressed and addicted to drugs. Every day the activity was carried out. Instead of getting better, the condition continued to worsen. At its peak, Kurt was found dead at his home on April 5, 1994.

Kurt shot himself and died instantly. Kurt's death brought deep sorrow to world music lovers. Kurt's mother, Wendy Cobain, is the one who feels the most lost.

Two mothers Wendy Cobain and Virginia Grohl - from a place less known as two children Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl - who are laying their works as part of the history of world music. We try to make each other proud of our children like competitions. Wendy Cobain always makes her son who often writes on the wall or notebooks.

Kurt is also proud to also describe an illustration of what he wrote. I don't want to lose, I call my son a genius musician with his musical creativity. I have a reason. Vice versa. That's why Kurt's mother and I took part in our children's musical journey in Nirvana, and we are happy to remember they played together, Virginia Hanlon Grohl in the bookFrom Cradle To Stage (2018).

The matter of remembering Kurt Cobain is not just his family's'monopoly'. The Mayor of Aberdeen, Bill Simpson, took a stand. He considers Kurt, who in fact sees Aberdeen as his hometown as worthy of more appreciation.

Bill also proclaimed the birthday of Kurt Cobain (on February 20) as Kurt Cobain Day on February 20, 2014. Kurt Cobain Day will be celebrated later every February 20. This was done so that many young people of Aberdeen grew up creatively like Kurt.

Not only that, Bill also inaugurated the statue of Kurt playing guitar at the Aberdeen History Museum. All of this was done as a form of appreciation to Kurt which made the name Aberdeen worldwide.

"Aberdeen residents deserve to be proud of the role our community plays in Kurt Cobain's life and the international recognition our community gets from his relationship with Kurt Cobain and his colleagues. An artistic achievement," Bill said as quoted on the NME website, February 24, 2014.
