Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya: Inauguration Of The Jakarta Bandung High Speed Train Waits For Jokowi

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said the inauguration of the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) was still waiting for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) schedule. Until now there has been no official date.

However, said Budi, the plan is for the first mode of transportation in Indonesia to be inaugurated on October 1, 2023.

"Launching God willing, October 1, President Jokowi's trial will certainly be determined by the availability of the President. On 8 (September) the president goes to India, it doesn't happen. So the date is determined later. So at this time it hasn't, but at least on the 1st there is a plan," he said on the sidelines of the opening of Asean 2023, at JCC, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 5.

Furthermore, Budi said that even if there was an adjustment in the time of the ceremony, the time would not be postponed for too long.

"That there will be a postponement (of the inauguration date) not too long," he said.

Previously reported, the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Rail (KCJB) project is targeted to operate commercially or paidly in October 2023. A series of trials will continue until they are declared ready to operate.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi hopes that the series of rapid train trials that the Ministry of Transportation continues to carry out together with PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) can run smoothly.

This was conveyed by Budi after testing the Jakarta Bandung high-speed train from Halim Station to Padalaran Station on Saturday, September 2.

"We together with KCIC continue to make improvements by conducting a series of trials. Hopefully the trial will run smoothly with good results, so that the community can use it in October 2023," he said in an official statement, written Sunday, September 3.
