LAMPUNG - The Association of Indonesian Sharia Banks (Asbisindo) Lampung is targeting a double-digit market share for Islamic banking.

"Our target in the management of this period is to increase the market share of Islamic banking in Lampung which is only 4.7 percent to double digits," said Asbisindo Lampung chairman for the 2023-2026 period Dede Irawan Hamzah quoted from Antara, Sunday, April 9.

He is optimistic that he can achieve this target, seeing the development of Islamic banking in Lampung Province today, which already has a Regional Sharia Economic and Financial Committee (KDEKS), whose management consists of government elements, Islamic economic experts (scholars), and Islamic economic actors from Islamic financial services industry.

"We have also been in touch with Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and in the near future will be in touch with MUI Lampung and other stakeholders who are certainly on the same page in developing the Islamic economy in this province," said Dede.

Dede revealed that the performance of Islamic banking in 2022 will be above that of conventional banks.

Based on OJK data from Lampung Province, the growth of Third Party Funds (DPK) for Islamic banks on a year on year (yoy) basis from 2021 to 2022 will reach 7.2 percent, while conventional banks will grow 4.5 percent.

Then the yoy growth in credit in Islamic banks was 19.8 percent and in conventional banks it only grew 5.9 percent.

"Asbisindo is ready to collaborate with all parties in terms of increasing market share and literacy, not only banking, but also the Islamic economy in general in Ruwa Jurai," he said.

Just so you know, Asbisindo is an association of Islamic banks in Indonesia.

For Lampung Province, Asbisindo was established in 2007.

Currently, Asbisindo's membership consists of 5 Sharia Commercial Banks (BUS), 4 Sharia Business Units (UUS), and 11 BPRS (Sharia Rural Banks).
