JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini distributed eggs to help improve people's health and endurance during a time of soaring COVID-19 cases.

In distributing the eggs, the Ministry of Social Affairs has the initiative to cook them first because if they are given raw, there is a high risk.

"We have cooking utensils, so we took the initiative to process it first so that it is ready to be consumed because if it is given raw it will have a high risk (of breaking)", said Risma, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 22.

After cooking, the eggs will be distributed to the community, Social Welfare Institutions (LKS), and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) which will later be given to the Social Welfare Service Provider (PPKS).

"In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs cooperates with religious organizations and parties who care about handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, such as religious organizations and other parties who care and want to help in efforts to handle the COVID-19 pandemic", she said.

The aid received is planned to be used to buy protein-rich foods and according to nutritionists it can be used to increase the body's immune system.

"Types of food that are rich in protein and if consumed twice a day can increase endurance, one of which is obtained from eggs", continued Risma.

Risma ensured that giving eggs was not related to the Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) and lockdown plans because it was the authority of the regional government.

Risma also reminded that efforts to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic can be carried out by the community by implementing strict and consistent health protocols.
