KPK Examines Former Director General Of Railways Of The Ministry Of Transportation Zulfikri

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned the former Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Zulfikri to be examined as a witness in the development of an investigation into the alleged bribery case at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

"Today at the KPK's Red and White Building, the investigative team has scheduled the summons and examination of witness Zulfikri as the former Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri when confirmed in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 27, confiscated by Antara.

In addition, the KPK investigating team also summoned four State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of the Ministry of Transportation, namely Zamrides, Danto Restiawan, Chairul Noor Ramdhan, and Bayu Nur Kholis, as well as one staff of the Central Java Railway Engineering Center Doni Adi Kuncoro.

Ali Fikri has not provided further information about what materials the investigators will investigate in the examination of the witnesses.

The KPK spokesman with the background of the prosecutor explained that the witnesses would be examined for a case involving two new suspects in the series of corruption cases.

On Monday, January 22, 2024, KPK investigators announced that they had named two new suspects in the alleged bribery corruption case at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

The two new suspects have the status of state civil servants from the Ministry of Transportation and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Yes, that's right, the two ASN came from the Ministry of Transportation and the BPK RI," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri.

However, Ali has not provided further information regarding who the parties have been named as suspects in the DJKA corruption, including his role in the case.

The KPK will later officially announce who the parties have been named as suspects in the corruption of DJKA along with the construction of the case and the articles suspected.

Ali explained that the determination of the new suspect of DJKA corruption was carried out based on the findings of legal facts in the trial of one of the convicts in the case.

Previously, investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on April 11, 2023 conducted a hand arrest operation (OTT) related to allegations of corruption at the Class I Railway Engineering Center for the Central Java Region of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

The KPK then named 10 suspects who were immediately detained in connection with the alleged corruption case of the construction and repair of railroads in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

The suspects consisted of four parties suspected of giving bribes, namely the Director of PT IPA (Istana Putra Agung) Dion Renato Sugiarto (DRS), Director of PT DF (Dwifarita Fajarkharisma) Muchamad Hikmat (MUH), Director of PT KA Management Properti until February 2023 Yoseph Ibrahim (YOS), VP of PT KA Management Properti Parjono (PAR), and Director of PT Bhakti Karya Utama Asta Danika (AD).

Six other suspects were suspected of receiving bribes, namely the Director of Railway Infrastructure Harno Trimadi (HNO), Head of the Central Java Railway Engineering Center (BTP) Putu Sumarjaya, commitment maker (PPK) BTP Central Java Bernard Hasibuan (BEN), PPK BPKA South Sulawesi Achmad Affandi (AFF), PPK Fadliansyah Railway Infrastructure (FAD), and PPK BTP West Java Synto Pirjani Hutabarat (SYN).

The range of bribes received is around 5-10 percent of the project value with an estimated bribery value received by the six suspects reaching around Rp. 14.5 billion.

The trial of the corruption case is currently underway at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Semarang District Court.

Head of the Central Java Railway Engineering Center (BTP) Putu Sumarjaya was sentenced to 5 years in prison in the alleged bribery case originating from the contractor implementing three projects at the Directorate General of Railways in the Central Java region.

The sentence read by Chief Judge Gatot Sarwadi during a trial at the Semarang Corruption Court, Thursday, January 18, was recorded to be lower than the prosecutor's demand for 8 years.

In addition to the corporal punishment, the defendant was also sentenced to pay a fine of Rp. 350 million which if not paid will be replaced with imprisonment for 4 months.
