Boyamin Will Disband MAKI If Firli Bahuri Is Detained

JAKARTA - Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman revealed his reason for disbanding MAKI if former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri was tried or detained.

The dissolution of MAKI was carried out to become a gift and sacrifice in this case.

"It seems that we have to make sacrifices, if we are Javanese, we have to give sacrifices," said Boyamin, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 27.

In the large Indonesian dictionary (KBBI) online the understanding of sacrifice, which is something that is used to reject disease and so on or reject reinforcements.

Boyamin said that the disbandment of MAKI when Firli Bahuri was detained was a form of appreciation to anti-rasuah institutions and it was hoped that in the future it would be stronger.

He believes that although MAKI will be dissolved when Firli Bahuri is detained, what is certain will grow a similar institution that is active in guarding the eradication of corruption in Indonesia.

"I'm sure there will definitely be more anti-corruption activists after MAKI disbands," he said.

Boyamin said the disbandment of MAKI was carried out when Firli Bahuri had been successfully detained or tried at the Corruption Court (Tipikor).

"If not, then it will not be finished, if they are detained or have been in a corruption trial, then (MAKI) is disbanded to show a gift to the KPK," he said.

Previously, MAKI assessed that the handling of the alleged corruption case of former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri was hampered by the rank so that investigators were awkward.

MAKI believes that investigators do not dare to detain Firli Bahuri because he has a higher rank, namely a three-star.

For this reason, MAKI in a pretrial lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court, also asked the judge to decide that the National Police should increase the Directorate of Corruption at the National Police Headquarters, which is currently led by high-ranking one-star officers or Brigadiers generals.

According to him, the directorate should have been upgraded to the Corruption Eradication Corps at the National Police Headquarters led by high-ranking 2-star officers or Inspector General and under direct command from the National Police Chief.

"I believe this does not dare to make arrests because it is solely one of the reasons this is being investigated is a three-star," he said.

Therefore, it is necessary to increase the status of the Directorate of Corruption Crimes at Bareskrim to the Corruption Eradication Corps, which is at the level of Korlantas.
