Police Arrest Teacher In Cirebon Who Molested His Students

Cirebon City Police, West Java arrested an honorary teacher with the initials FB (24) for allegedly molesting his 12-year-old student.

Cirebon City Police Chief AKBP Muhammad Rano Hadiyanto said FB carried out the action by forcing the victim to take one of the boarding houses in Cirebon City on Monday (26/2).

"The victim, who is still a minor, was molested and sexually assaulted by the perpetrator who works as an honorary teacher at a school," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 25.

The police chief said that the perpetrator had sent a message via WhatsApp to the victim, by inviting the student to go for a walk and asking her to bring a change of clothes.

However, he said, the perpetrator apparently immediately carried out this disgraceful act, resulting in the victim experiencing deep trauma.

When he came home from school, the victim was picked up by the perpetrator in front of the school. Then he was invited to walk on a motorbike. The victim did not know where he was invited to go. Then the action took place," he said.

He emphasized that the perpetrators who have now been arrested will undergo further legal proceedings, to be accountable for these actions.

Rano stated that this teacher was charged with Article 6 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence, with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of IDR 5 billion.

In addition, he ensured that the victim would receive assistance to restore mental and psychological conditions after the incident.

"We also secured evidence from this case, including the results of the post-mortem of the victim from the hospital to investigate this case thoroughly," he said.

He appealed to parents to carry out inherent supervision of children, in order to prevent incidents like this. It also opens space for victims or related parties to immediately report.
