Observer: PDIP And PKS Have Opportunity To Become Oppositions, But Less Likely To Unite

JAKARTA - Lecturer of the Department of Politics and Government of Fisipol UGM Arya Budi said that the PDI-P and PKS have the opportunity to become opposition to the 2024-2029 government, but are unlikely to unite.

"Yes, if they are outside the government it is very possible. Well, the question is outside the government, united outside the government, that's what is unlikely," said Arya, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 2.

He saw that the PDI-P and PKS actually had their respective walking logic for the realization of checks and balances to form a democratic government.

With this check and balance mechanism, each state institution can supervise and balance the power of other institutions. This is in accordance with the ideals of reform and the 1945 Constitution for the creation of accountable state administration and far from arbitrariness.

Arya also analogized the PDI-P and PKS as oil and water that cannot unite.

"Because, in terms of distance, their ideology is too far, it's like oil and water. It will be troublesome, complicated," he said.

Therefore, according to him, the most likely thing for these two parties is outside the government by walking independently.

This condition can also take the niche of voters who do not choose the presidential candidate pair and Vice Presidential Candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 presidential election.

"The most likely ones are these two parties outside the government, but they run alone, of course they will continue to criticize the government and take niche for voters who do not support Prabowo-Gibran," said Arya.

In addition, he explained that the union of these two parties as the opposition had a small percentage. Because, it takes great motivation to be outside the government, such as the similarity of ideology to political platforms.

"This is inversely proportional to if the PDI-P and PKS are in the government. They can easily unite, even though they have a large ideological distance," he said.

He said the union of the two parties was driven by a political platform in the form of a ministry. Where each party feels it is part of the process of making public policy.

"PDI Perjuangan dan PKS itu sangat beraskan secara ideologi dan standing point politiknya," pungkasnya.

Previously, Thursday, February 15, PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto emphasized that the party bearing the white-nosed bull is ready to fight as an opposition outside the government and parliament to carry out check and balance duties.
